Queen family friend Jessica Danforth decides to run for mayor. During her announcement, she is attacked by Lonnie Machin, an anarchist for hire working for Darhk. Oliver explains to his sister that her aggressiveness is a result of being in the Lazarus Pit. Diggle tells Laurel about H.I.V.E. The team successfully stops Machin, but Thea sets him on fire in the process. Later, Machin escapes police custody. Laurel decides to take Thea back to Nanda Parbat, both to find a way to stop the aggression and to bring Sara Lance 's body to the pit. Oliver runs for mayor after Danforth backs out of the race. Meanwhile, Felicity takes over for Ray at the company and tasks an employee named Curtis Holt with fixing the financial crisis. In flashbacks, Oliver defeats a soldier and is instructed by Waller to infiltrate the local military operation run by an officer named Reiter. Reiter recruits Oliver for his cause instead of killing him.
