Complete story — includes the ending
At a motel in Cashiers, North Carolina, Dr. Renee Majcomb keeps a lookout for unwanted visitors. At the same time, she tries to reassure Nina that they’re safe since nobody has found them in 19 days. She promises to help Nina and the other Mannites. However, Nina tells Renee that it’s too late and people are coming. That it’s just the beginning and nobody’s safe.
At 5:14 a.m. an alarm sounds at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning which sends the X-Men running to respond. As they get further into the mansion they’re bombarded by an intense noise and bright light. Storm uses her weather control power to blast the machine from which the noise emits. The team finds that the whole commotion was a test being run by Professor Xavier.
He’s unimpressed by the response time of his team. The X-Men bemoan their lack of time to recover from recent ordeals. Xavier is unmoved and suggests that if they’re as unprepared as they seem then they’ll be a danger to the public and themselves in the event of an enemy attack.
